Reflective essay
As
I believe, “Espacio de Reflexión” aims for our personal growing in experience
and confidence regarding classroom teaching. This enables us to try new things
and gives us the chance to be open-minded and resourceful. However, it is
important to take and adapt the pieces of advice and ideas we receive to
improve our management towards children behavior, class delivering and problem solving,
which is not something easy to do. I think it is a matter of being aware of
what we need and take what could be useful for us.
If
we don’t have this space in our teaching career, we would not be able to realize
how far we have improved and compare our achievements accomplished as time goes
by. Without this subject, I would not be
able to keep a record of what I need to change in order to be or do what I need.
It is important to study and put ourselves in some situations in order to see
what occurs with us and students. Reflecting in our teaching is essential in if
we use it to go far away of our comfort zone.
In
my case, this year I am trying to find what type of teacher I am and what I
want to keep and change. I served me a
lot to see different points of view in my classmates and teacher in order to
place myself in a comfortable way of teaching.
I personally try to share everything I know it will be helpful for
others and I take and ask for ideas and opinions. It is paramount to share
knowledge because we all go through different experiences and come from diverse
backgrounds which make us different and leads us to create and modify differently
from others. Sharing ideas and opinions give us plenty of choices to choose from
whenever we have to create and give a class indifferent backgrounds too.
It
had always worried me how I addressed students and how I expected to be seen
for them. I consider myself to be a relaxed and funny teacher which engages
students by making funny comments and stablishing a good rapport with them.
However, I realized this year that I need to be more firm and consistent with
my decisions in class and try to be fair with every student in class. It
happens that we always have some students we tend to interact more and allow
more participation from them and that is something I really paid attention to.
I am working on that and making a good progress.
Although
this semester , and I believe the next semester too, helped me to realize how
close or far I am from what I want to be as a teacher, it is important to have
this introspective look not only this year in “ Epacio de Reflexión” but in the
rest of our teaching career. It is very enjoyable and enriching to hear and
discuss about every useful ussie that comes up in every class, and more important,
to continue discussing and bringing up useful ideas among teachers. Moreover, confidence
is key and I believe I am in the right track when I try to be aware of what I
need to correct and I do it as good as I can.

Reflection Course: End of Term Evaluation
Out
teacher asked us to complete this form about our first term and that made me
realize how far I have reached in terms of confidence. For instance, I have
been consistent in my decisions in class which had led to a better atmosphere
and to an increasing in participation too. Furthermore, I became aware of the
students from whom I always asked their opinion, depriving some other students
of participating. I am trying to be conscious and ask everyone to participate
and demonstrate what they have understood in class. Still working on that.
We filled this form, but I could not figure out how to show what I
wrote.
